The movie 'Keka' was churned a lot in publicity and it is true that this film has undergone big promotion than any other movie in recent times. But how far it tuned with the expectations? Let us go into details.

Story:
The movie begins on the backdrop of Kolkata and a home for the street children. Arjun (Raja) tries to teach music to the children and he is originally from Hyderabad. Apparently, he is staying away from the city for a reason and that reason is Sujata (Ishaani) his love. She is engaged to Kiran (Anup) who is the best friend of Arjun and so he does not want to be a cause for a disturbance in their life. An incident takes place between Arjun and Sujata and from then on she starts hating him. Who is responsible for the incident? Will Arjun ever get to see Sujata? How does Kiran help amidst the sorrow and separation? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
New heroine Ishana's screen presence is impressive and she seems to be holding good future as glamorous heroine. Raasi dubbed for Ishana in this film.

Seeta Rama Sastry's son Raja is ok and he needs to upgrade in body language and expressions. Navadeep's dubbing worked well for him.

Anup's performance is ok and Ajay's dubbing suited well.

Music by Chakry and lyrics by Veturi, Seeta Rama Sastry and Chandrabose are impressive.

PC Sri Ram's cinematography is hyped in big way but it appeared quite mundane.

Teja deserves all sorts of criticism and it is true that he lost his grip on audiences that he used to have earlier.

Analysis:
Ridiculous narration forms the major part of the film. The much hyped film has ended up as a dud. It's receiving the curse of audiences and that's evident at the end of first day-first show. The talented Teja has made a senseless movie with no effectiveness in any aspect of his job.

The only plus point in the movie is music and lyrics and even that got clouded in the camouflage of shabby screenplay and scruffy dialogues. The movie tests the patience from starting till end. The much publicized PC Sri Ram's cinematography also deserves nothing great to mention. It appeared just as run of the mill. The special affects used in the movie are quite normal when compared with present day standards.

Teja confused the audiences by incorporating 'orphan children concept' in plain love story. He struggled a lot to justify the mix, but failed openly. First half tests the patience while second half brings 'crack' in the heads of audiences.

Audiences have entered the theaters with enthusiasm and expectations and came out with dull blank faces. That implies the status and result of the movie.

Story:
A romantic tale, the story begins in Kolkata where a bearded man arrives from Hyderabad and he happens to teach music. His name is Arjun (Raja) and he believes in doing a lot of social work, one day he is shown on TV and back there in Hyderabad, a girl who is literally on her death bed wakes up hearing his voice. Her name is Sujatha (Isshana). The flashback goes that Arjun actually meets Ishani during one of his holidays in a village and eventually, they fall in love with each other but fail to express it. However, they do not get to contact each other since the locals of the village spot them together and send her away. Meanwhile, Arjun also comes to the city to resume his college and he has his best friend Kiran (Anup) who is ready to do anything for friendship. One day, Kiran gets the picture of a girl and shows it to Arjun and tells him that she is his fiancé. She is none other than Sujatha and Arjun is in a fix. However, Sujata comes into the picture and she is thrilled to see Arjun. Soon, they get together and the time comes for Arjun to tell the truth to Kiran. He accepts their relationship wholeheartedly but says that it will take time for him to tell his parents, so discreet meetings are arranged. However, the matter goes to Kiran's parents and things go wrong. Meanwhile, Kiran attempts suicide to clear the way for Arjun and Sujatha, shaken by this Arjun decides to move away forever from both and that's how he lands up in Kolkata. However, there is an ugly truth behind all this which is discovered but by that time a lot of gap arrives between Arjun and Sujata. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with an ordinary romance story and the narration was just about okay. The dialogues were weak, the script was below average, the screenplay was tolerable and the editing could have been better. The saving grace for the movie is some real good music and songs and also a fairly decent cinematography. The other things are not worth a mention here. Raja has shown enough spark in him to become an actor and he looks good with hair. Anup was just okay and he has to work on his body language and emotional scenes. Isshana has been a good find and she has something attractive about her that will make the audience turn the head twice. She has prospects to grow in the industry. The others did not have much scope to perform since there is not much in it for them.

Conclusion:
The film has attempted to show the intensity of love and the emotions one experiences but then it could have been a lot better if the sequence was more streamlined and organized. There is a disconnectivity that runs between the film and audience at key points and that should have been avoided. The technical aspects are alright with good music and an above average cinematography given the man behind it but overall, the usual gripping moments that could touch the hearts of audience in an emotional love tale was not felt much. The film might run due to its songs and the fresh faces, a lot of creativity has been utilized in this. Commercially, it might turn out to be an average grosser.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Average treat, barely passable.
