Review

(disclaimer: contains spoilers) Story King (Nagarjuna) belongs to the royal dynasty of Coimbatore. He has a doting mother (Geetha) and a loving brother (Deepak). He has three brother-in-laws who are after the blood of the king in order to get a share in their property. In this scenario, King gets killed when he visits Dehradoon for a project work. Bottu Seenu (Nagarjuna) is a local mafia man in twin cities who does settlements. Gnaneswar (Srihari) is an innocent don of the city. Bottu Seenu falls in love with an aspiring singer Sravani (Trisha). But Sravani is of a soft type and she likes soft guys. Hence Bottu Seenu takes the avatar of a software engineer to impress her. The rest of the story is all about whether King is killed or not. Artists Performance Nagarjuna donned three roles of different dimensions. Among the three, Nagarjuna impresses with the mass character of Bottu Seenu. Nagarjuna should be appreciated for acting in some self-deprecating scenes (like Brahmanandam beating Nagarjuna's legs). Trisha’s character has two shades in the film and she is cute.Mamata Mohandas is not the second heroine of the film. She played an important character. Srihari is cool as an innocent don who has a thing for drawing horrible paintings. Brahmanandam donned the role of a music director. His character has stark resemblance to that of a popular music director in Telugu film industry. The shot in which he poses as a guitarist for Srihari's painting is hilarious. Sunil's role is nice as the guy whose identity is stolen by the hero. Technical departments Story: Story of the film is the potpourri of various films. 1. The basic plot of sibling rivalry is taken from Hindi flick Race. 2. The heroine – Srihari aspect is taken from Dhee 3. The spoofs in second half are done on Chandralekha and Chandramukhi. Some of the shots like bullet trajectory (Wanted film), hiding gun in loo (Godfather) and beating the legs of a paralyzed person (Simhadri) too sound inspired. Screenplay – direction: Seenu Vytla is an expert in screenplay. But the screenplay of this film is both good as well as bad. Good because the screenplay is extremely complicated. Bad because the finesse is missing. The director could not evenly distribute the twists in the film. He has one twist coming in interval. And he let all other twists come in the last 15 minutes of the film. The best thing I liked in the screenplay of the film is the thread of hero stealing the identity of Sunil. It is beautifully written, but was not used to the maximum extent. The concept of fetish for painting horror images was already done in Seenu Vytla’s ‘Anandamanandamaye’ film. It is more effectively used in this film (especially the three drops scene).Direction of the film is adequate. The director could have made Srihari character little serious as he is shown as a completely innocent man. The film needs a lot of trimming in second half from the moment the gang enters King's palace. Other departments: Music of the film is average. The songs that interested me were King title song and Bammardi. The cute walking of Nagarjuna in a beach song shot in the nice. Kelli Dorji enacted the role of the rapper in King title song. The much touted 8-heroine song does not impress. Some of the steps in this song were adapted from OSO song. Background music of the film should have been better. Cinematography is adequate. Dialogues by Ravi fits the bill. Some dialogues like 'King gelavadu. Gelipistadu' are good. Few dialogues like 'King ni pattukovadam kastame kaadu, asadhyam kuda' (Hindi Don's dialogue 'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin na mumkin hai') are clichéd. Editing should have been crisper as there is lot of lag in the second half. Production values for the film are good. Analysis: First half of the film is alright. Second half should have been better. The climax of the film looks contrived. The plus points of the film are Nagarjuna and a few 'Seenu Vytla' kind of comic moments. The weakness is unevenly distributed content in the film. We definitely expect a better film from Seenu Vytla for the kind of talent he possesses. We have to wait and see how audiences embrace it.

Story: A routine tale, the story begins with a backdrop of a royal family and in that lives King (Nagarjuna) who is the messiah for the entire family surrounded by greedy brother in laws (Jayaprakash Reddy, Sayaji, Krishna Bhagawan) who want to see his end and take away his property. As they expect, King is considered to be dead since he is shot and the family is not made aware of this. Location changes and reaches Hyderabad where boddu Sreenu (Nag again) is a local goonda who believes in doing good. In this, he finds resistance from Gnaneshwar (Srihari) but both come to an understanding. Meanwhile, Sreenu chances upon Shravani (Trisha) and falls in love with her, he discovers that Shravani is the sister of Gnaneshwar and he plays a trick posing as software engineer Sharath. Meanwhile, King's family is keen on locating him and so is his arch rival Bhagat Singh. Finally, they come across Sreenu and take him as King. But beneath all this, there is a major masterplan involving all of them since the killer of King is yet to be found out. How all that happens forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director has come out with a predictable story but what makes it special is the presentation and the narration. The dialogues were perfect, the script was written almost neatly and the screenplay was well executed. Full marks go to the music and songs that were really melodious and the camera department that caught the action sequences with some real good angles. Costumes deserve a pat for a very elegant arrangement and wear. Editing could have been crisp during the second half but overall it was well done. Nagarjuna has come out with his performance like a cake in the walk but what impresses about him is his look and style that has not faded despite his age. Trisha was sweet and carried out her role but it must be admitted that Mamta was really hot, she has some real enticing oomph that is hard to miss. Srihari has come out with a fabulous performance while the others like Jayaprakash Reddy (good), Arjan Bajwa (okay), Geetha (Elegant), Sayaji (simple), Krishna Bhagawan (average) did their bit. The comedy team comprising of Brahmanandam (effective), Venu Madhav(good) and others were alright and added value to the film. Conclusion: Though the story has been somewhat predictable and went on safe lines without much of experiment, the real trick lied in the screenplay and the way the whole thing was arranged. While the first half takes off to a flying start though the first few minutes were a bit jarry, the second half culminates into a complete climax but then the length got a bit too long. The mass audience will surely like the concepts of 'Chandramukhi' and the special song with eight heroines and overall the film will turn out to be a successful venture due to its dose of entertainment and glamour presence. Bharatstudent Verdict: Entertaining and well taken, can be watched.

The expectations have been big on this film for several reasons. The most vital factor that boosted up expectations is the direction by Srinu Vaitla who made big hit 'Ready' this year. Let us see how far the film reached expectations. Story: King alias Chandra Pratap Varma (Nag) is the son of Raja Varma (Sobhan Babu). He becomes the heir of a large estate fatre the death of his father, where his uncles and aunts also live with him along with mother (Geeta). King faces a peril in the form of Swapna (Mamata Mohandas). That stands up to be a suspense element in the narration. Who is Swapna and why she becomes a danger point for King? What happens to King? On the other hand Sravani (Trisha), an aspiring singer catches the eye of a guy whose name is Bottu Seenu (Nag), a goonda. What's the link between Bottu Seenu and King? That forms another layer in the film. And last but not least, Sravani falls in love with a software engineer Sridhar (Nagarjuna). Is there any link between Sridhar, Bottu Seenu and King other than the similarities in looks? That's another layer all together. 'Gnan anna' aka Gnaneshwar (Srihari) portrayed the role of Sravani's brother. Rest to be watched on screen to unleash this knot. Performances: Nagarjuna's magnitude is seen fully on silver screen. His grace pulled the attention of entire audiences. It sounds a wonder to know he is 50 now. There are no signs of that age on his face or body and he is looking 20 years younger to what actually the time claims. His performance in three different shades is hilarious and entertaining. He left his starry airs aside and performed up to the role as demanded (like getting bruises from Brahmanandam). That should inspire many younger heroes as well. And coming to dances, he has performed in his trade mark style. Trisha is with full of elegance and the credit should be given to costume designer and cinematographer. She hasn't exposed anything big but touched the senses of audiences. Mamata Mohandas looked voluptuous and witch-like as per the demand of the role. She once again proved her mettle as complete artiste with own voice for dubbing. And coming to the most publicized eight-heroine song, except Genelia everybody looked hot (Anushka), romantic (Trisha), lovely (Priyamani), refined (Kamna), sexy (Mamata Mohandas), spicy (Sneha Ullal) and chubby (Charmy). The costumes used for Genelia are inferior when compared to others in that song. That made the difference. Brahmanandam once again tickled the audiences with his role as music director Jaya Surya. He has been the vital factor in Srinu Vaitla's films since 'Dhee'. Master Bharat also brought laughs with his role but that is not in the length of his role in 'Ready'. He justified in a small role in this film. Jayaprakash Reddy also made his presence well with his Rayalseema style of dialogues. Sayaji Shinde and Krishna Bhagawan also portrayed in their trade mark style on negative side. Sri Hari deserves very good mention in this flick. He worked really well as supporting artiste. He portrayed action and comedy in right doses. His hilarious role will be remembered as Painter Gnaneshwar for sure. Coming to technical aspects, cinematography by Moorella Prasad is fantastic. The costume designer also deserves great mention. And the story writers Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan once again grooved in their names for the characters of Sayaji Shinde and Krishna Bhagawan, like they did with their earlier films. All in all, this Srinu Vaitla's show although inspired from different films (Chandramukhi, Chandralekha, Shankaradada Zindabad etc….), stands to be unique and a wholesome family entertainer. Analysis: The movie takes different twists and turns but no where strains the audiences. A laugh is promised at every 10 minutes on an average. Although the length of the movie seems to be long in second half, audiences don't get bored. Even the songs made the audiences sit in theaters by the blend of their right music and interesting choreography as well as costumes. First half runs with ample humor while second half too does the same with added comedy. Many films start rolling on mind's screen while watching this flick and that should be understood as parody-like inspiration by the director. Interesting Comedy Tracks: Srihari's painting episodes Brahmanandam-Trisha casting couch TV Show with Brahmanandam Nagarjuna's Chandralekha and Chandramukhi parody Best Scenes: Bullet scene (although inspired from Hollywood flick 'Wanted') Action sequences It's a wholesome entertainer from Srinu Vaitla but here is one suggestion for him. He should change the style by not incorporating similar elements like that of his 'Ready' and 'Dhee'. There is risk as people may get bored watching similar comedy tracks again and again. The movie undoubtedly appeals for masses and entertains families.

Story Lav (Tanish) is a kind of guy whose aim in life is to ‘patao’ a girl. Like innumerable teenage boys, he just wants to experience the feeling of having a girl friend. Anu (Madhavi Latha) is a responsible teenage girl who works part-time in a coffee shop. Lav wants to love her, but she is not of that type. In an occasion, he saves Anu’s father. Impressed with him, she asks him to ask for any favor. Lav asks Anu to be his girl friend for 15 days. Anu agrees to it on certain conditions (no physical touch). In the process, the detached Anu falls in love with Lav. And Lav is more excited to flaunt his girl friend to his friends than actually caring for her. The rest of the story is all about how Lav realizes what’s true love is. Artists Performance Tanish is extremely talented. His dialogue delivery and ease in acting make him standout. His debut is one of the most promising debuts in this year. The guy who did the role of hero’s friend is also very natural. The actor who donned the villain role is good. Heroine Madhavi Latha is promising. This film also sports many technicians as actors. Director Kasi Viswanath (Nuvvu Leka Nenu Lenu director) did the role of hero’s father and he is cool. There is lot of comedy timing in him. Art director Narayana Reddy acted as the tonsured boy who is an assistant to villain. Writer Prasad did the role of heroine’s sadistic neighbor who keeps asking heroine’s father to look at positive side in disastrous situations. Director Sarath did another prominent role. Item girl Raksha did a nice role of hero’s mother. Technical departments Story - screenplay - direction: This film deals with the social problem of many teenage boys who just want to have a girl friend for the kick of it. It also touches the burning issue of ‘cell phone videos leakage’. Ravi Babu narrated the entire film from the hero’s point of view by making his narrate from the moment he is born. Ravi Babu has the experience of ad-film making. And he used that ad-film touch to his Allari and Soggadu (only first half). With the freedom given by Ramoji, Ravi Babu gave that touch to the entire film. There is a color pattern (green and bluish) and sophisticated humor angle. He dealt first half of the film very well. However, he could have done the last half an hour of the film (screenplay glitch) in a better way. The following comedy/creative scenes are excellent 1. The entire humor involving the kids. 2. The van episode: The Annapurna mobile van is used excellently to create a series of riotous moments in the film. 3. Hero realizes the focusing aspect by looking at a boy’s focusing on a single fruit. 4. The pick-up lines hero uses to ‘patao’ girls. 5. The use of paint dabbas by family members. 6. The hero’s plight of giving a love note in the song. The following aspects should have been dealt well 1. Crude comedy used for heroine’s father heart-attack. 2. The final episode hero-heroine-villain tussle. Other departments: The music by Sekhar Chandra (son of cinematographer Hari Anumolu) stands out. Pavu Takkuva Tommidi sung by Jassie Gift is extremely peppy and is excellently shot. The ‘black n white’ theme song with black articles fading away is very creative. Other songs also reflect the theme and mood of the film (neither forced duets nor routine songs). Cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy is very good. The art work by Narayana Reddy deserves mention. Dialogues are neat. The entire film is shot at Ramoji Film City (hence you see Margadasi advertisements in backdrop during most part of the film). Ramoji Rao should be commended for allowing Ravi Babu to shoot the entire film the way he wanted to. They stuck to a theme and followed it throughout. Analysis: : The initial half an hour of the film is excellent. First half of the film is good. Second half is adequate. The last half an hour should have been dealt better. The plus points of the film are humor and romance. On the flip side, the last half an hour should have been dealt better. On a whole, Nachavule is worth a watch for being a different flick and a theme film.

Two monkeys and two puppets have promoted the movie from posters and the crowds have turned up in good number. That's a rare promotion stunt and is the film in tune with anticipation. Let us go into details. Story: The story starts with the narration of a young man without his face on screen. Lavkumar (Tanish) wishes to have girl friend since his childhood. His love for girl friends grows big as he grows older. But he finds no right girl. In the process he happens to meet a girl Anu (Madhavi Latha) and some dramatic sequences develops friendship between them. Lavkumar asks Anu to be his girl friend and the latter agrees with some conditions. But the girl herself breaks the conditions and falls into deep love with the boy. How things turn from there. How Lavkumar changes after friendship with Anu? Who is right and who is wrong? How the relation affects them and how that culminates in climax has to be watched on screen. Performances: New actors Tanish and Madhavi Latha did well in their roles. Madhavi Latha has got sharpness in features as well as in performance. She may shine well if given opportunities. Tanish is good and he gave out reasonable performance in first attempt. He acted well in pathos scenes as well. Narasimha as hero's friend got reasonable role in first half. Kasi Vishwanath, who acted as hero's father portrayed a levelheaded role. Raksha was seen in a middle class mother's role. Kamesh is ok in the role of heroine's father. Naveen, the guy who acted as villain is ok. Coming to technical departments and other faculties Bhaskarabhatla's first song 'Pavu thakkuva thommidi…' is enjoyed by masses and youth. Music is reasonable but not outstanding and haunting. Screenplay is rational and appears to have done with attention to detail. Director Ravi Babu gave a balanced film this time. He has been showing his abilities in handing all sorts of genres. Initially he entered with rocking comedy films like 'Allari' and gave a twist with horror flick 'Anasuya' and now a pathos entertainer 'Nachchavule'. Analysis: Ravi Babu made a sincere attempt to bring awareness for youngsters and parents regarding the conditions prevailing in society in the name of 'social moving' and 'boy friend culture'. He has shown his brilliance in narration and sensibility in dialogue writing. First half runs with good pace while second half appears little heavier with sentiment and emotion. But still the second half holds right grip. The climax would have concluded on the hospital stretcher itself. Concluding the movie with a general 'cool climax' without any tragic affect has diluted the purpose to some extent. The impact would have been better had there been some tragic feel at the end for this flick. The negative impact of boy friend- girl friend culture, misuse of cell phone cameras among youth, irresponsible nature of youngsters are aptly taken on to celluloid by the director. He has tried to teach a moral lesson indirectly which is indeed a need for today's society. Within in the narration he has also shown how a husband should love his wife and how a young man should be responsible towards his family as well as the tender feelings of the people those love him. The title, promotion and the content are sensible and in tune with contemporary time.

Story:

A responsible tale, the story begins with the backdrop of a narrative voice who is not shown and he is in fact Lavkumar (Tanish). There is only one wish he has throughout his growing from his pre teens to his younger days. All he wants is a girlfriend but then time passes by and years go by without getting the right kind of female companion. In comes the beautiful girl Anu (Madhavilatha) and with a twist of events, both Lav and Anu get to meet each other. As expected Lav requests Anu to be his friend and the pretty girl agrees. However, she puts in some clauses and conditions for which Lav agrees. The friendship grows but as destiny would have it, things change as Anu finds herself violating the conditions she had set and falling in love with Lav in a big way. Meanwhile, Lav can see the transformation that he is going through with this new relationship and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with a simple concept but then he has done justice with a fairly reasonable narration and an equally competent presentation. The dialogues were thoughtful, the script was written okay and the screenplay was to the detail though not remarkable. The music was not extraordinary but it had its own moments, two songs are worth taking home. Editing could have been sharper but overall it was fine. Tanish has come up with a fairly decent performance given his first attempt but then he needs to be careful about his expressions at the right time of emotional scenes. Madhavi was beautiful and had a pleasing face, even her performance was good enough and she has shown that there is potential inside her if she gets the right director and banner in the future. Raksha was a surprise as the middle class woman while Kamesh and Kasi Vishwanath carried out their roles with the required elegance. Narasimha was alright and did his best to manage few lighter moments. Naveen could have been better.

Conclusion:

In the wake of the sugary teen entertainers that come in the name of love, this is relatively a far better and more meaningful cinema to the current generation. The message was put across in a subtle way and given the awareness and the maturity of today's youngsters, they should be able to realize what the film maker was trying to convey. That is one very good part of the film. While the first half was more entertaining and took off very quickly, the second half got slowed down due to the sentiment aspect and emotion and the climax takes to the edge of the cliff but leaves the audience right there without any hard feelings. The film can surely do better with some word of mouth but such movies are a need to the current trends.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Simple yet sensible, can be watched.

Story Ravi (Ravi Teja) is a struggling assistant director who works for a mediocre director ‘Idly’ Viswanadh (modeled after self-deprecating ‘Puri’ Jagannadh). Ravi lives with his mother (Rama Prabha) who is suffering from cancer. Sandhya (Siya) is a struggling side dancer who aspires to become a heroine. She is harassed by her brother-in-law (Krishna Bhagawan) who acts more like a broker. Yaadu (Supreet) is a goon who harasses Sandhya. The rest of the story is all about how Ravi and Sandhya realize their dreams. Artists Performance Ravi Teja: Ravi Teja, who is known for his hyperactive energy with lots of attitude, gave a subdued performance in this film. There is lot of honesty and intensity in certain scenes enacted by him. His dialogue delivery is also slow compared to his earlier films; that’s why dialogues like ‘tuduchukunte pothundanukunte…’ and ‘road meda penta…’ are clearly audible in this film compared to Ravi Teja’s earlier films. Others: Actress Siya is appropriate for the role of a side actress who becomes heroine at a later point of time. Subbaraju stands out with excellent performance though he imitated Mahesh Babu at times. Mumaith Khan enacted herself as a heroine in this film. She is adequate. Supreet excels in the role of the main villain. Sayaji Shinde is very good as the hapless Telugu movie producer. Brahmanandam is hilarious as a mediocre director and he provides some entertainment. Krishna Bhagawan is good as the nasty guy. Venu Madhav is hilarious in ‘Tamil director’ get up and in the ‘deep shit’ episode. Sairam Shankar is nice as the fans president. MS Narayana, Satyam Rajesh and Rama Prabha are fair. VV Vinayak donned the guest role of himself. Ali – the aasthana comedian of Puri Jagan’s movies – is conspicuously absent in this movie. Technical departments Story - screenplay - direction: Basic story of the film is about a struggling assistant director becoming a director. There are two ways to narrate this story. One is to make an artsy film and another is to do a pucca commercial film. Puri Jagan chose a mid path for this film. Hence, certain scenes in the film look honest and some look forced for commercial reasons. Direction is adequate in parts. Screenplay is not good. Dialogues are good in parts. The following scenes are good – 1. The introduction scene in which heroine says that she is in the profession of side dancer because she has to feed her family members. 2. The scene in which hero explains to heroine that people love each other for their own selfish reasons. One of the best in Puri Jagan’s films. 3. Venu Madhav’s two scenes: (a). changing his name Senthil to impress heroes of Telugu by using Tamil name. (b). ‘Deep shit’ episode (adapted from one of those forwarded emails we usually get). 4. The doctor explaining how clever the hero is by explaining the consequences of cutting the behinds on goons using a knife. 5. The fans president episodes. The following points are unconvincing 1. The real struggle of hero character is never showcased. He reaches his goal smoothly with a little resistance. Hence you would never empathize with the character of the hero. 2. Casting item girl Mumaith Khan for the role of heroine who later attempts suicide. The character of Mumaith Khan could not derive any sympathy because of the miscasting. 3. Hero would be beating up villain several times in the film and there is never any resistance from the villain. Hence there is no payoff in the climax episode when Ravi Teja repeats the dialogue ‘tuduchukunte pothundanukunte…’ and beats the villain again. 4. There is glorification of film industry. The only negative character shown in the film industry is that of Brahmanandam character titled it as ‘Idly Viswanadh’. Puri Jagan tried to play it safe by not criticizing anybody in film industry. He chose Idly Viswanadh and criticized the directors because he could justify that ‘Idly Viswanadh’ is modeled after ‘Puri Jagannadh’ so that no other director would blame him. Hence the honesty in the film is missing. 5. Puri Jagan blamed NRI crowds to be miserly people (one of the character uses the word "kakkurty") who read web reviews to save $8. (Probably Puri Jagan is not aware that his previous film Chirutha was previewed for $20 in USA and his latest film Neninthe costs $12 a ticket in most of USA centers). It is not the money NRIs care about. They are more concerned about time, efforts and have a fear of losing their peace of mind by watching a bad film. Puri Jagan also suggested that people should watch the film first and then read the reviews. Not the other way round! 6. On one hand Puri Jagan blamed the gossip sites (in a way it is justified) and on the other hand, he propagates gossips with Neninthe film that web reviewers take money and do distribution to give good rating to the movies. Other departments: Music by Chakri is good. Krishna Nagare Mava (penned by Bhaskarabhatla) is excellent. ‘Oh I miss you’ (sung by Raghu Kunche) is pretty romantic. And I liked the way Puri Jagan integrated the narrative of the story into the songs picturization. Cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is good. Editing is adequate. Fight sequences are OK. Analysis: First half of the film is adequate. There are no payoff elements in the second half. Certain scenes in the film are good and entertaining while some scenes are bad and uninteresting. Overall, Neninthe is more like a personal film made from Puri Jagan’s personal experiences. It is certainly not a universal film on Universal Media (production house of this film that delivered universal blockbusters like Desa Muduru & Dubai Seenu).

The much awaited movie 'Neninthe' has seen light today. As it is directed by ace film maker Puri Jagannath, obviously the expectations have rose big. Is the film in tune with expectations? Let's peep into the details.

Story:
Ravi (Ravi Teja) is an aspiring film director who works as an assistant director at Idly Vishwanath (Brahmanandam). Mallik (Subba Raju) is the hero of the film and Mumaith (Mumaith Khan) happens to be heroine for that project. Sandhya (Siya), the junior artiste cum troupe dancer falls in crush with Ravi. But Ravi is goal oriented like Kamal Hasan in Sagarasangamam.

And striking another resemblance, Ravi's mother (Rama Prabha) ails with a cancer. Amidst all this, how Ravi reaches his goal by impressing heroes and producers with his talent forms the main theme.

In the process of narration, the director has touched several corners of film world and slashed several departments surrounding film world.

Performances:
Ravi Teja did his best in his role. He proved to be the best one to portray emotional anger with sentimental touch. His performance when a dying fan calls him on phone is impressive.

Siya is hefty and not possessed with sharp features. But still she is good for the eyes of audiences. She enacted her role satisfactorily.

Krishna Bhagawan portrayed role with villain shades while Supreet made his presence as rugged villain. Rest of the crew is ok.

Coming to technical aspects, cinematography worked well. Music is just average. Apart from the song 'Krishna nagare mama..' nothing is haunting. Puri's direction is filled with anguish and missed logic several times. He gave confused characterization for hero as well. Initially hero appears to be practical and balanced even in fights. But in next scene he fights like any other action hero. The director might have missed the understanding that the atmosphere shown in this movie (overseas rights, reviews, gossips…) wouldn't appeal for mass and rural audiences. The titles of the films are very interesting with ample of nostalgic appeal.

Analysis:
It's the 'confessions of Puri Jagannath on film world'. He has shown a great variety in the concept he has chosen but failed to handle it in proper way. Although the film is insipid there are a few sensibilities in it.

Ravi Teja: "rupai sampadinchaleni evvadu I love you cheppadaaniki arhudu kaadu" (it appeals for all students and teenagers)

Rama Prabha: "chaduvu sandhyalleni vedhavalanthaa cinemaallo panichesthuntaarani bayata oka talk undi. Anduke daanini cherapadaaniki K Raghavendra Rao BA, SV Krishna Reddy M Com ani vesukunnattugaa nee peru venuka kooda MBA ani pettaanu" (this enlightens the people those assume that film people are illiterates)

Sai Ram's suicide episode moves the hearts of audiences (that's a lesson taught by director for entire fans' community)

Sayaji Shinde: "2% success rate tho nadiche industry lo unnam. Edadiki 150 cinemaalu vasthunte andulo 2 leda 3 hit avvadame kashtam ayipothondi" (it's a macro level analysis that utters a bitter fact)

Target-Websites:
Shyaji Shinde calls his nephew in USA and says to him in anguish, "Don't read reviews and go to films. Watch films first and then read reviews" (What's the logic in this? If that can be done, then producers can screen their films first and then think about collections).

The great dialogue also says, "Don't bother for your mere US$ 8 and kill cinema by not watching it" (How many NRIs support this dialogue? The dialogue says that the dollars should be squeezed out from NRIs by producers and in that process, reviews shouldn't hinder)

Shinde also says, "Websites give ratings for the films as per their whims and fancies. They give positive rating when they distribute them overseas and negative rating when they don't" (if that can be the assumption, the website reviewers can come to conclusion that talented film directors also make films as per their whims and fancies. They make sensible films when they are down to earth and make bullshit when over-confidence hits their heads).

Shinde also says, "Dr Ramanaidu at that age is establishing new studios just for passion and not for money" (if that is the understanding, why can't the director understand that websites are also running just with passion to entertain people but not for money. Well, how many producers give Ads for websites and how many websites run behind producers for Ads? There is that evidence for websites to claim that they are running with more passion and less money. But what is the evidence for Ramanaidu's 'mere-passion' to start a new studio as claimed through this movie?)

The film has discussed lot many things but that is not in tune with the entertainment requirement of audiences. Certainly the movie is a bold venture but the director would have dealt with this with better conviction. It's a personal review of Puri Jagannath on 'Tollywood'. His entire confessions are grooved in this film. He expressed his views on egos of directors, crazy fans, websites and reviews, rowdies in film world, woes of junior artistes and everything. Too many things made the movie over loaded with subject shunning the entertainment value. Both first half and second half run with dull pace. The tempo of the film is not active but appeared lengthy.

Story:

An overhyped tale, the story begins with Ravi (Ravi Teja) who is an aspiring director and is currently an assistant director with Idli (Brahmanandam) who is not so much of a talent. He puts up with Idli's tantrums and soon the film of hero Mallik (Subbaraju) releases turning out to be a major disaster leaving the producer (Sayaji Shinde) into dire straits. On the other hand, Ravi comes across as a junior artiste Sandhya (Seiya) who eventually falls in love with him but then she is lusted by the local goonda Yadu (Supreeth). Soon, destiny comes into picture and Sandhya becomes a top heroine while Ravi gets a chance to direct one of his stories. However, fate has something else in store for them and whether Ravi is successful in materializing his dream or not forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has attempted to come up with a rather bold tale but the truth is neither the narrative nor the presentation was as gripping as it was expected. The dialogues were just about okay barring two scenes, the script was average and the screenplay had nothing special. The music department was below the mark and barring two songs, there is nothing melodious in the background score or the songs. Cinematography was just about okay, editing was mediocre. The shots in a single scene were too many and sometimes it was visually disturbing. Comedy was absent and whatever little was there failed to generate any laughs. Ravi Teja looked good with his performance and he fitted well with the image of a struggling yet bold director, Seiya was voluptuous and fresh to the core and she really has a very glamorous potential. Sayaji Shinde was regular, Subbaraju did his bit with elegance, Supreeth looked evil enough and delivered his role very well, Krishna Bhagawan was apt, Venu Madhav failed to impress, the others did their bit mechanically.

Conclusion:

The film was meant to be a dig at the film industry on a lighter vein but it looked more like a autobiography with the most practical outlook. The personal thoughts and anguish of the director were clearly evident in few scenes but then if he was planning to entertain the crowds with his self story then it must be said that he has failed in his job. The brilliance of his direction was missing completely. While the first half of the film was quite haphazard, the second half gets into a direction but there is no element of gripping scenes or something that leaves an impact. The film will run due to its very different storyline and the fast paced canning but entertainment quotient or comedy aspect is nil. This will get its investment but there is nothing more to it.

Review

Story During the time of Nizam empire integrated into India, the Nizam king amasses all his precious jewellery and gives it to his lieutenant to hide it in a safe place. Three thieves (MS Narayana, Allari Naresh and Ali) steal the treasure and hide it in a jungle. Then they draw the map about how to reach the treasure and tear it into three pieces. They take one piece each. After that incident they never get a chance to meet again. After 50 years, the kins of these three thieves start their mission to get the three pieces of map together. The rest of the story is all about the treasure hunt that follows. Artists Performance Allari Naresh is very good as the pretty thief. He is amazing in various film spoofs he has done. Actress Tanya is not a heroine material. MS Narayana's spoof as Okka Magaadu is interesting. Ali is alright as the tribal chief. Venu Madhav is paired up with a sexy girl (Malishka) in this film. This film sports almost all the comedians of Telugu film industry. Technical departments Story - screenplay - direction: : Story of the film has interesting elements and has the potential to be a winner. It is a spoof of treasure hunt films. But the direction of the film is bad. Screenplay is also uninteresting. There are few hilarious episodes like Dhoom spoof, train episode and Ali bumping into the tree. But some of the comedy episodes are in cheap taste. The man-eaters episode is handled very badly. Most of the second half involving the treasure hunt is boring. The director used the sun-eclipse cheating technique from ‘Apocalypto’ (click here for Jeevi Review) film. Other departments: Music of the film is not up to the mark. All the songs in this film are not shot well. Dialogues are adequate. Cinematography is mediocre. The art work done for the tribal village (koya gudem) is good. Production values of the film are not good. Analysis: First half of the film is so-so. Second half is bad. The plus points of the film are a few hilarious episodes. The negative points are screenplay and direction. On a whole, Allari Naresh's Dongala Bandi (that followed a hit film Blade Babji) disappoints big time. However, this film may still hold some potential for B and C center centers.

This is the film that pumped in some expectations among audiences as there are many comedians. And Allari Naresh has tickled with laughs in his recent 'Blade Babji'. Hence the expectations have risen further. How far the expectations are reached? Let us peep into the details

Story:
A boring story, the tale begins with the backdrop of the Nizam era and there is a treasure that has been hidden by three thieves one among them is Okka Magadu (MS) during the Indian government takeover and the map is torn into three parts. The scene changes to the current day when two thief families one headed by Okka Magadu and the other headed by another conwoman (Kovai Sarala). Apparently, Krishna (Naresh) is the grandson of Okka Magadu and Aishwarya (Tanya) is the granddaughter of one of the thieves. Fate brings them together and they are on the lookout for the third part when Don (Venumadhav) enters the scene. He is the grandson of the third thief and even he gets to meet the other two parties through chance. What follows from there is the journey towards the treasure and whether they are successful or not forms the rest of the story.

Performance:
Allari Naresh has come up with a power packed performance but then his character has not been etched that well. He was excellent in his dance and the comedy was good. He imitated Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas, Balakrishna and Sai Kumar in a scene and spilled laughs.

Tanya has got some real good oomph and she does not have grace while dancing. Malishka is hot!! Venu Madhav was okay, Jeeva was normal, Ali was ineffective, Chitram Sreenu was nominal, Kondavalasa and Sumanth were mechanical.

The others hardly had any presence.

The director has come out with an interesting plot but then his narrative was a major disaster. The presentation was alright with some real good locations and the camera captured them elegantly. The dialogues could have been better, the script was quite weak and the screenplay was stale. Editing could have been better especially in the second half. Music was okay and there are a couple of songs worth taking home. The other departments were just about average in their contribution.

Analysis:
This is a very boring flick made in recent times. Although there are many comedians in the film, none could bring in any laugh. Only Allari Naresh could spill a few laughs that too in first half during his introduction. 'Dongala Bandi' gives an experience of crushing under its wheels. The caption of the film reads 'No Logic-Only Fun'. But the fun is also missing in this flick and second half bombed the entire film mercilessly.

The film took off very well during the first half and the imitation of 'Dhoom' and the following comedy was good but then it took a complete U turn during the second half.

It was obvious that the maker was just trying to fill the time slot so as to complete the required two hour mark. The comedy track was not at all convincing despite the presence of some of the finest comedians. Even the sex appeal of Malishka was not used rightly and she was just sidelined. The film could have been a lot better if the script was written intelligently and though there were sparks of brilliance and creativity at few points, overall the film fails to impress the audience.

The happenings of the first half raise expectations but the eventual happenings and the poor climax make way for a disaster. This will surely go down as a black one for Allari Naresh.

Story:

A good one spoiled, the story begins with two thief families, one is headed by an okka magadu (MS) whose grandson is Krishna (Naresh) while the other is led by the intelligent lady thief (Kovai Sarala) whose niece is Aishwarya (Tanya). As chance would have it, both of them bump across each other and soon they fall in love too. What they don't know is Okka Magadu and Aishwarya's grandfather are part of the same trio who has hid the Nizam's gold and jewellery during the post independence time. Soon, the truth is realized and now they are on the lookout for the third person since the map to the treasure is split into three part and the third part is with the third person. This is with Don (Venu Madhav) whose grandfather happens to be the third person. Soon, all of them meet and they are joined by two goon brothers (Jeeva and Ravu Ramesh) who also have their eye on the treasure. The journey begins and in between they also include the prince of the forest (Ali) and finally begin to locate for the hidden treasure. Are they successful in their quest? Do they get to be together throughout this journey? All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with a rather interesting subject but then he lost out badly on the narration aspect. The presentation on the other hand was neat with some amazing locations and fairly good camerawork. The songs were just about okay and only one number was really hummable. Editing was out of order during the second half, the script was quite weak and the screenplay was executed poorly. The other departments did not have anything special to offer. Naresh has come out with his energetic performance and it must be admitted that he has come out with some real good dance moves. Tanya is sexy and she has the right kind of oomph but she needs to relax while dancing as it was stiff and some expressions need to be more refined. Malishka was real hot and tempting. Though her role was quite poor, she managed to prove her presence through her attractive figure, the long list of comedians like Ali, Venu Madhav, Chitram Sreenu, Suman Shetty, Kovai Sarala, Pooja Bharathi, Shakeela and others were just present but did not have much to do. Jeeva and Ravu Ramesh was another team that failed to impress. The rest of the cast was simply dummy without much to say.

Conclusion:

The film had come up with an interesting subject but the maker could have pulled it off with some intelligent direction and a fine tuned screenplay. While the first half was really good and was with flying colors the second half turned out to be a major disappointment and there was literally nothing that the audience would have liked about. Even the climax is something that does not help serve the momentum of the film. Techincally, the film has few bright points but content wise and narrative were horrendous. The film will turn to be another flop.

Immediately he informs him of this and since Raghuram has not seen Pradeep's picture, Pradeep sends a different picture of his friend Shyam (Ali) and from there on, he works out a plan in such a way that his family meets up with Raghuram's family through coincidence and later, his father (Nizhalgal Ravi) meets Raghuram and soon both families get together. Even the engagement of Pradeep is fixed with Vaishnavi under dramatic situations. However, the truth is revealed about Pradeep's plan. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. Performance Raja is one man who seems to be following the path of Uday Kiran given his mild performance. He needs to put in more energy in his body language and dialogue delivery. His performance is becoming a bit repetitive. Kamna has got enough voluptuous beauty and nativity to keep the Telugu audience pleased and there was nothing wrong with her performance. Nagababu has lived upto his role effectively and his dialogue delivery has been top notch. Nizhalgal Ravi looks classy in his performance and he has a strong potential in Tollywood. Naresh has delivered a good performance, he is effective. M S and Ali have provided some share of comedies. The others did their bit to add value to the movie. The special song having Rachana Mourya has been a visual feast and she certainly has the smoothness and tenderness that might give Mumaith Khan a run for her money. Analysis The film had a regular romantic tale and though the plot has been visited few times, it was essential that the script must be maintained tightly and that was missing atleast during the first half. The dialogues were just about okay and there was nothing punchy or special about it. Music has come out with some impressive tunes but then most of them happen to be lifts from western and Hindi beats. Luckily, they were not haphazard and did not break the rhythm of the film. Though the film did not have any shock moments or some really touching scenes, it carried on with a decent pace. The film did not take off on that convincing note but later on it picked up some momentum and by the time the second half came in, the maturity of the director came in. This could be a good tale for those interested in family dramas and television serials cut short into a film. Technically, there are no flaws but at the same time nothing special to talk about, commercially the film will need a lot of word of mouth to take it to the audience else it will sink in no time.

Story:

A romantic tale, the story begins with Pradeep (Raja) and he chances upon Vaishnavi (Kamna) only to fall for her at the first sight. The regular chase sequences happen and finally Vaishnavi falls hopelessly in love with Pradeep. However, there is a problem. Vaishnavi's father Raghuram (Nagababu) is a strict man and hates the word of love, he has a strong flashback for that. Pradeep-Vaishnavi's love is spotted by Raghuram's friend in Bangkok and he passes on the news. However, Pradeep uses his brain and hatches a plan in such a way that his friend Shyam's (Ali) picture is sent to Raghuram. Meanwhile, he also devises a plan in such a way that his father (Nizhalgal Ravi) and his family meets Raghuram and his family and Raghuram is not aware that Pradeep is the man his daughter loves. All goes well and there comes a stage when Raghuram fixes up the wedding of Pradeep-Vaishnavi. However, a twist of tale occurs and the truth is revealed. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with a regular and predictable subject and though the presentation was alright, the narrative was quite slow for a lot of time. The dialogues were normal, the music has taken a lot of inspiration from other songs, camera was just about okay. Editing was required during the first half. Screenplay was effective. The comedy track was somewhat okay and managed few laughs. Raja has come out with his regular performance but then he needs to pump in a lot of energy in his voice else he is going to become stereotype. Even his body language needs to pep up with some energy and enthusiasm. Kamna was cute and voluptuous, she fitted the bill correctly. Nagababu has come out with a powerful performance while Nizhalgal Ravi was elegant and is making up for the absence of Raghuvaran. MS was his regular self while Ali's comedy was not upto this potential. The others did their bit and contributed.

Conclusion:

The film had a routine plot and the entire first half just drags along with stale comedy and predictable scenes. It is not until the second half that the momentum picks up and the audience is kept to the seat in a good way. The item song by Rachana Mourya was spicy. Overall, the film could have been better if it had some more dose of comedy and the script was tight with a strong message. Technically, it did not have major flaws but commercially a word of mouth only will take it to a decent mark.
