Story:

An interesting story, the film begins with the life of the middle class Rajendra Daubery(Vinay) who is a salesman and he has only one aim in life. To become as rich as his idol Dhirubai Ambani and make it big but only by ethical means and in this pursuit, he is strongly supported by his doting wife Suman (Divya) who is an absolute believer of god. However, Rajendra is unable to make even a decent income despite his best money making schemes. Suman is stressed by this and keeps pleading with god to help her husband in some way. In comes god in human form (Saurabh Shukla) and he begins to show opportunities to Rajendra so that he can make money. However, though the opportunity is right in front of him, Rajendra simply fails to identify those opportunities and this goes to such an extent that even god ends up saying 'Oh my god'. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director's attempt to include the element of divinity in a rather natural form has been conceived very well and though the presentation was jarry at times, the narrative was neat and well told. The script has been written effectively and the screenplay was executed fine. The dialogues were quite real life, the music was okay and the camera could have been better. Editing missed out on few key areas and this could have added more value to the script. The natural humor can be relished at moments. Vinay has come up with another remarkable performance while Divya looks attractive and at the same time perfect in chemistry with Vinay. Saurabh as always is versatile to the core and Gaurav was upto the mark. Harsh was his sophisticated best. The others did their bit as per requirement.

Conclusion:

Though tales like this with the involvement of the divine force have come before, this is the first time the plot looks more believable and enjoyable. It could have been a lot better if the screenplay was altered and while the first half was more on the regular incidents that lead to the plot, it is the second half that is the real soul for the film. The narration has been quite simple without any hype or hoopla. Overall, this is surely a feel good film but all it takes is a gentle push through word of mouth and then some more publicity.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Simple yet interesting, recommended for one time watching

Review

Story
Rajendra Dubey (Vinay Pathak) works in an investment company. His real passion lies in selling a multi-marketing network to others. He idolizes Dhirubhai Ambani and wants to make money in a legal way. He doesn’t fall for free/easy money. God (Saurabh Shukla) wants to help him, but Dubey rejects it by thinking it is easy money. The rest of the story is all about the tussle between helping God and rejecting Dubey.

Actors:
Vinay Pathak is very good in the role of a man with ethics dreaming big. Saurabh Shukla is hilarious in various get-ups as God who desperately tries to convince Dubey to accept money. Divya Dutta is lovable in the role of an understanding and cooperating wife.

Technical departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: The premise of storyline is good. But the execution of the film is bad. The script of the film is half-baked. Even in films involving God needs some make-belief factor. The God who grants Dubey Rs 10 crore has to steal the same amount from a bank, which is near Dubey's work place and it instills fear in Dubey. The second half of the film is complete let down as the director seem to have been in two minds whether to make this film a comedy or an art film. Narration of the film is slow.

Other technical departments: Cinematography is alright. However, the uniform DI (color grading) makes this film appear smooth. Music of the film is mediocre. This film is made on a shoe-string budget.

Analysis: First half of the film is alright though it's boring at times. But the second half of the film is bad. The only enjoyable scenes in the film are the ones in the combination of Dubey and God. The script of the film is half-baked. The film lacks a tone and as director does not seem to be sure of to make this film either a comedy or an art film. Vinay Pathank who did two good films like Bheja Fry and Dasvidaniya disappoints us a big time with 'Oh, My God!'.
